"My story and how I joined DSD has not been straightforward or linear in any way. It took a circuitous path. A path that ultimately brought personal satisfaction. It all began sometime in 2015 when a colleague of mine recommended DSD to me. At the time he explained that DSD was cutting edge, progressive and different than any thing he has ever learned in dentistry. That’s all it took to pique my curiosity, propelling me to search and learn more about it. As luck would have it Christian Coachman was giving a two day course at a periodontist office on the east coast and not far from me. So I enrolled in the course and after 2 days felt the same about DSD as my colleague was trying to convey to me. I also felt that DSD was in it’s infancy and was starting to grab everyone’s attention and interest. However, and for whatever reason, I did not implement the DSD principles in my practice. But in the back of my head I had reserved a small portion to DSD and felt someday I would revisit. That day took seven years and a bit of coaxing from Maria Cabanellas. I remember clearly in our zoom meeting giving Maria all the generic reasons why I didn’t need to join or take another look at the program. Here were a few of them:
“ We are already doing digital dentistry”.
“I am doing well and I do plenty of reconstruction cases”.
“I am in my 50’s. I don’t see how we can add DSD to our practice”.
Blah blah blah…..
I placed plenty more roadblocks to thwart Maria’s earnest requests to give it another shot but she kept insisting that DSD has matured and is now more impactful than what was presented to me in 2015. I relented and agreed to take residency 1. To say I was blown away, would be an understatement. The three days flew by, and I didn’t want it to end. A strong urge and hunger began to consume me like a child that was just given his first bicycle. I wholeheartedly and with no reservations in my mind altered my career trajectory and began my journey. One that I can say with certitude has been fulfilling and importantly, benefited my patients. DSD has also brought joy, excitement and job satisfaction for my team members. I am forever grateful to Christian and everyone at DSD that puts their whole heart and soul in a project that will be recognized as a game changer and revolutionize the industry, if it hasn’t already. DSD will forever resonate and make an impact in the lives of people that it makes contact with. Now I need to go back to my friend that originally introduced me to DSD and maybe I can influence him to take another look at the DSD revolution.". - Dr. Tabib
